This AFTRS Media Lab Learning Resource looks at both the theoretical and practical aspects of documentary filmmaking. It is an advanced unit for secondary school students. This unit develops students’ understanding of documentary styles, genres and history. Students will undertake critical and creative work including close textual analysis of the documentary form. The unit provides information, worksheets and suggested activities to guide students through the process of preparing for and making an advanced documentary on a wide range of subjects.
