AFTRS runs a number of short courses throughout the year that are relevant to primary and secondary teachers for professional development. These include 5-10 week online courses and 1-day to 3-week on campus courses.
The following courses are of particular interest to teachers:
AFTRS offers hands-on training for students in years 8 to 12 through practical workshops for groups of up to 20 students. These practical workshops, normally taught over two-days, are designed to deliver creative experiences, build confidence and provide insights into careers within the arts and media industries.
Intro to Radio and Podcasting:
Students will learn a brief history of radio and learn the skills involved in developing their own podcast. They’ll come up with content ideas and learn about target audiences and learn practical skills in audio editing, as well as using production elements to enhance their work. This program equips students with audio storytelling skills and provides the tools to get started with their own podcasts.
Digital Filmmaking:
Participants learn to create compelling video content using iPads, opening the door to short filmmaking. They’ll learn about shooting and editing techniques, including framing, sound and coverage, and students will finish the program with the practical skills and confidence to produce high-quality videos.
Both programs can be taught at your school or at our campus in Moore Park. If required, AFTRS can provide the necessary equipment, such as iPads and headphones.
